Started as a barge master and drilling supervisor in the early eighties on the Saudi Bahrain Causeway and founding Kamp Drilling Consultants B.V. Ad Kamp has over 40 years experience which gives DDC an total experience of 60 years. Drilling foundations for 42 km long bridges, berth and dolphin piles and all other drilling jobs near sea, we have the right rigs and solutions at hand.
Herbosch-Kiere Marine Constructors was awarded for the 35m extension to the Dover ports Pier E. The extension is to cater for larger ferries that are expected to enter into service in 2011. The works consist of installing a 4m diameter x 46m long fendered monopile and a concrete deck suspended on 6 steel monopiles of 1,2m diameter.
Arab Potash Company has opened a new potash plant at its existing factory in Ghor El-Safi, Jordan. A new pumping station was constructed on a jetty head to support the new facility. DDC has provided the top drilling rig to remove the soil from the 61m long foundation piles The job was carried out with the PBA306.
Briggs Marine have been awarded the contract to supply and install large diameter piles for the viaduct section of the Faslane jetty. The job was executed with the Wirth PBA810 with 1110mm diameter and 1845mm diameter.
In 2007 Ballast Nedam in joint venture with Danish Per Aarsleff signed the contract with St Maarten Harbour Holding for the construction of the cargo port expansion. For the Cargo Quaywall the soil conditions in the rocky coastline called for a special approach.
Four berthing dolphins and six mooring dolphins 2,5m diameter are constructed. A temporary casing pile 3m diameter is placed to drill a hole of 2,8m into the rock. To minimize dispersion in the environment the drilling residue is pumped into a barge to settle.
Vysotsk is located 160 km west of St Petersburg on the Gulf of Finland. In 2002 Lukoil launched the project for a new oil terminal on Vysotsk Island. The 3 jetty terminal is built by the consortium Fluor Daniel Euresia (US) and Lukoil Neftegastroi.
In 2003 Stena Line Ports Ltd has built a new 315m long berth at the Port of Holyhead to provide facilities for the new ships. It included 6 berthing dolphins 2,4m to 3m diameter drilled and installed in the bedrock. To support the linkspan another 23 monopiles 0,8m diameter are drilled and installed.
To enlarge the La Condime harbor the largest floating seawall in the world was built for the Principality of Monaco. It provides a place to dock 200m cruise liners. Subcontractor Seaway Heavy Lifting installed and driven the 10 steel piles for this floating seawall using the 2500 Mt crane vessel Stanislav Yudin.
For the installation of a Jetty foundation 139 open ended piles with 1810mm diameter had to be drilled. The pile foundation design for soil plug removal below the Insert pile succeeded by drilling of a pilot hole below the Insert Pile tip to the specified depth.
In July 1981 the contract for the causeway was signed between The Kingdom of Arabia and Ballast Nedam Groep. In total almost 500 holes are drilled 3,75m diameter, when the borehole was at the correct depth the drill rig was removed and a concrete pile was installed.
