Onshore
Examples that show how we respond to project specific wishes of the customer can be found below in some of our onshore projects. We created and executed the drilling of a reactor in Rotterdam which downtime hereby was reduced from one month to one week, we tested a drill rig which should work as an escape for miners in India in case of a collapse, we drilled and placed extra anchors in the Olympic stadium in Amsterdam to stop the floor coming up by groundwater pressure, but we also participate in for us more common projects such as the Bay Bridge and Carquinez Bridge in san Fransisco and the Zambesi bridge in Mozambique.
In April 2010 on the Aker-Wirth test site a shaft is drilled for a globally unique facility of testing drilling components. The intent is to pre-test the components under real conditions. the new Aker-Wirth, 360kNm, hydraulically driven top drill rig PBA936 was used.
The Parking garage Anna van Bueren is part of the New Babylon project nearby the The Hague Central Station. Two foundation piles were leaking and due to groundwater pressure 20 m3 sand came thru these piles. To prevent more sand coming out a grout plug was placed and when this had to be removed for inserting tension piles DDC was requested to do so.
To abate pollution due to sewer overflow into the Narrangansett Bay the commission decided for two 70m deep, 9m diameter and 3 miles long storage tunnels with drop- and ventilation-shafts. Seven pairs of shafts are drilled of which three pairs with the Wirth top drill rig.
As part of the New district Plan prepared by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, in 2003 constructions starts to build new ramps to improve the access to the Washington bridge. DDC's help was invoked because the traditional methods were found unsuitable.
In 2000 the contract for the new Carquinez Bridge was awarded to the joint venture of FCI contractors and Cleveland Bridge. Each foot of the bridge tower is supported by 6 vertical 3m diameter steel shells infilled with reinforced concrete. Followed by 2,7m diameter drilled shafts in rock.
